"We Are Better With Burns"
For Pembroke Pines Commissioner, District-4
“I am very passionate about my beautiful City of Pembroke Pines, having lived here for 25 years and raised my family here. With such a rich and diverse culture, it is quite fitting to have a minority as Commissioner for this city. What a great honor and privilege it will be for me to serve my community and to assist in building a much more Beautiful, Safe and Progressive City to live, raise families and leave for future generations.”

The People of Pines, Building a Future Together
Elizabeth “Liz” Burns is a community advocate, business leader, cultural ambassador, and longtime Pembroke Pines resident whose work has focused on bringing people together, supporting families, and strengthening local businesses.
A proud Jamaican-American, Liz has lived in South Broward for 48 years and raised her family in the community she now seeks to serve. She began her career as a Account Analyst in South Florida. She later became a Data Processing Manager and Systems Security Personnel at major international banks — becoming the first Jamaican and female professionals to hold those roles at that time.
After transitioning into entrepreneurship, Liz built a successful event marketing and production company providing services for weddings, corporate events, and community initiatives throughout Broward County.
Her passion for civic engagement led her to create platforms that uplift culture and economic opportunity. She founded and produces the CariFusion Festival, providing exposure for artists, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. She also produces the Unique CAHM & Culture Awards, celebrating Caribbean American Heritage Month and recognizing community leaders, supporters, and lifetime contributors to service.
Additionally, Liz produces the annual Expressions Caribbean American Magazine, which promotes local large and small businesses that highlights culture, cuisine, and heritage of the Caribbean and the region. She previously led the Caribbean American Connection networking group, helping entrepreneurs collaborate and grow.
She has received numerous proclamations and honors from cities and organizations throughout Broward County, including recognition as one of the 50 Outstanding Jamaican Business Achievers in Florida and the Jamaican Milestone Award for Professional Service Excellence, as well as Service Awards from the Jamaica United Relief Association.
Elizabeth “Liz” Burns is running to expand opportunity, strengthen neighborhoods, and ensure residents have a voice and representation in government.
